Sister Mary Gertrude Kallenbach, RDC, entered the congregation on September 3, 1959 and took her final vows on March 30, 1967.
She taught in the primary and intermediate grades at St. Frances de Chantal from 1962 until 1975, then taught 4th and 6th grades at St. Anthony’s in White Plains from 1976 until 1986.
For two years, she served as an administrator at the Nathan Miller Long Term Care facility (1986-1987) and then as a social worker in Tarrytown from 1987 to 1989 where she became a case worker. Presently Sister Gertrude works in senior services at Good Counsel Convent.
Sister attended Good Counsel College and went on to receive her Masters degree from Iona College in New Rochelle. Sister Gertrude’s great love is her volunteer work with the Valhalla Ambulance Corps with whom she has worked for the past 33 years. She also volunteers for two weeks each summer at Camp Sunshine in Maine in a special program for children with cancer.
