Sister Kathleen Mary McCann, RDC, formerly known as Sister Mary Adelaide, entered the congregation on September 8, 1949 and pronounced her final vows on March 13, 1955. From 1952 until 1957, she taught 3rd and 6th grades at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Elmsford, then 3rd grade at St. Lawrence O’Toole in Brewster 1957-1958. Between 1958 and 1967, Sister taught 6th and 7th grades at St. Lawrence O’Toole, St. Bernard’s in White Plains, and St. Anthony’s in Harrison. She served as librarian at Preston High School from 1967 until 1987 and went on to hold the same position at St. Joseph’s Seminary from 1987 to 2006. Sister graduated from Cathedral High School in 1948 and received her Bachelor’s degree from Good Counsel College in White Plains in 1957. Later she received a Masters degree in library science from St. John’s University in Jamaica, NY.
Sister Jean Noonan, RDC, formerly known as Sister Mary Michael, entered the congregation on September 8, 1949 and pronounced her final vows on March 13, 1955. From 1953 until 1968, she initially taught primary grades at St. Frances de Chantal in the Bronx and St. Lawrence O’Toole in Brewster and then moved on to intermediate grades at St. Frances de Chantal. Sister Jean went on to teach at Preston High School from 1968 to 1978. For two years (1978-1979), Sister worked with the Maryknoll Missioners in South America. Upon returning Sister became immersed in labs and research from 1979-1980. After that she taught science at Resurrection High School in Rye, NY in 1980-1981 and Spellman High School 1985-1986. During the time period of 1981 to 1985, Sister worked as a registered nurse at Westchester Medical Center. She later taught at Good Counsel Academy High School from 1986 until 1992. Currently Sister spends her time tutoring chemistry students online as well as working in the Advancement Office of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion. Sister graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1942 and received her Bachelor’s degree from Good Counsel College in White Plains, NY in 1946. Later she received a Masters degree in geochemistry from St. Joseph College in West Hartford, CT.
Sister Mary Carmella Stapleton, RDC, entered the congregation on September 8, 1949 and pronounced her final vows on March 13, 1955. She was a 7th and 8th grade teacher at Good Counsel Academy Elementary School in 1951 and taught history at Good Counsel Academy High School in 1952. She also taught 4th grade at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Elmsford from 1951-1952. From 1952 until 1957 Sister taught 5th grade at St. Frances de Chantal in the Bronx. From 1957 until 2003, Sister taught at Preston High School in the Bronx, presenting the subjects of religion, history, Latin and Spanish. She also served as Alumnae Coordinator for the school. Since 2003, she has participated in a ministry of prayer and presence at Holy Family Convent. Sister graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1944 and received her Bachelor’s degree from Good Counsel College in White Plains in 1948. Later she received a Masters degree in classical languages from Villanova University in Villanova, PA.
